Yikes!
Am I a deadbeat blogger?
Is anyone still here?
If you are, hello!
Four years ago, I wrote “What’s in Your Mirror?” my musings about being almost 25 years old and nowhere near where I wanted to be in life. At the time, I did not know that it would be my last blog post for several years. However, I did know that I was ready for a change.
Behind the scenes, things began shifting on their own. I began to run blog topics by my sister that were increasingly complex. One topic, to which she pointedly replied, “(insert Lily O’s government name here), that sounds like a research paper. I think you need to go back to school.” Not to mention the time I got my dad to read Michelle Alexander’s The New Jim Crow by creating a book club of sorts. When I told my dad some of the questions I had, my dad stated “Cool! This is like school.” The writing was on the wall, it was time for me to go back to school. I just wasn’t ready to accept it until it spread to other parts of my life.
Even my job had seemingly turned against me. The place where I worked for nearly four years became impossibly difficult and petty.
Out. Of. The. Blue.
What I could easily do at one time, I no longer had the capacity for and I felt trapped. I was short of obtaining my degree and still severely lacking confidence in my abilities.
Now before I start sounding like an ITT Tech Commercial, I completely understand that pursuing higher education is a luxury. I also understand that college is not for everyone. And even if it is for you, your current circumstances may be preventing you from continuing your education at this time. I am merely trying to explain why I stopped blogging.
I say all of this to say that I am happy to be back and writing again!
Great to have stumbled across your site during your return. We all need a hiatus sometimes, and that makes us come back stronger. Looking forward to the content you’ll be putting out!
