I Don’t Want to Go Outside Anymore

I don’t want to go outside anymore

I don’t want to work twice as hard to be considered half as good anymore

I don’t want to be followed around the store anymore

I don’t want to worry about my family exercising their rights anymore

I don’t want to say “Again?” anymore

I don’t want deaths explained away anymore

I don’t want to question the motives of my neighbors anymore

I want to feel safe in my neighborhood

I want to feel that I am protected under the constitution

I want to believe that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, not shot first and named a suspect after death

I want to believe,

But

Until I can

I don’t want to go outside anymore.
