Beyond the Lights

So, I saw Beyond the Lights  yesterday. Beyond the Lights is about a burgeoning starlet who is reaching her breaking point and the man who helps save her, literally. Lights is a well-directed film that blends real media and music figures with actors so well that it holds a behind the scene feel at times. I felt that the director, writers and actors studied and were familiar with the industry they were portraying. It didn’t feel overdramatized or campy. Truthfully, I would like any movie that produces a song as great as Fly Before You Fall by Cynthia Erivo.

*I also saw the trailer for Ava DuVernay’s Selma. I.CAN’T.WAIT. TO. SEE. THIS. MOVIE.

I’ve been planning to see this! Love & Basketball is one of my all time favorite movies and it was directed by the same woman. I hate that Beyond the Lights didn’t fare too well at the box office. 😦

Love & Basketball is one of my favorite movies as well. I was disappointed about the box office performance too . However, a lot of people thought that it was going to be similar to The Bodyguard but it has very little, if anything in common with it.
